Prostitution and Solicitation of Prostitution

These charges are both class one misdemeanors with maximum penalties of one (1) year in jail and up to a $2500 fine. Prostitution is an act of selling sexual services for money or its equivalent. Solicitation is the act of requesting these services. Both require an act in furtherance of carrying out the act.

Arrests for these charges are usually carried out by undercover officers in the vice squad. Generally the evidence in the case is the eye witness testimony of the officers conducting the sting operation and in some cases actual physical evidence in the form of marked buy funds. For this reason these cases are difficult to successfully defend, although there are circumstances where they can be defended.

Usually the main goal of representation is to negotiate an acceptable outcome with the least impact on the client. You will have to evaluate whether the value of representation is cost-effective for your circumstance.
